Fresh Fontage!

One of the things I really enjoyed making for the Leather Museum Campaign was the font, which I’ve used for a bunch of projects. Given the amount of embroidered text I make several people have suggested making an embroidered font, and so I finally bit the bullet and got started:

I wanted to start this out right, so I got some linen in and ordered some tremendously delicious black silk thread, and while I’ve done a LOT of embroidery over the past four decades I’ve never actually embroidered in actual silk.

The plan is to stitch the font in layers and then compile each as a separate version. So, enough about the process, and on to the actual typeface – in small caps, title case and lower caps as standard, bold and italics.

And finally a motivational statement!
